Hello there! Thanks for checking out A Fit Mess. I’m happy you stopped by.
I’m Alyssa and I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I’m a thirty-something-year-old mother to twin girls, full-time marketing professional, part-time blogger, and lover of all things health and fitness. I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below!
I was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. My husband and I moved to North Carolina in 2008, got married, and started a family a few years later. I truly love living in this state and we both feel like it’s our home. We’re grateful to be able to raise our girls in such a wonderful place.
Becoming a parent was absolutely the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever done. Finding the time to exercise and eat healthy while taking care of my family and working is difficult, but totally possible! I believe that self-care is essential for living a happy and healthy life.
About the blog
I began A Fit Mess in December 2015 and this blog offers daily updates about exercise, recipes, balancing work and family, and my crazy, messy life with two toddlers. I hope this site will inspire you to squeeze in some quick workouts, find a few parenting hacks, and maybe share some laughs over my somewhat chaotic life.
In July 2016, I became a certified personal trainer through the Poliquin Group. I don’t train clients at the moment (but my husband does!). I would eventually like to teach classes when my schedule opens up.
If you spend a few minutes reading my blog, you’ll soon learn that I love working up a sweat. My favorite activities include running, Orangetheory, yoga, CrossFit, and strength training. I share a lot of my workouts in my weekly updates and I regularly add these to my Workouts page. I love to get movement in every day and it’s become even more important to me now that I am a parent.
I have run two marathons, a dozen half marathons, and countless 5Ks. I credit my dad for getting me hooked on running when I was in my teens. I didn’t try to run long distances until I was in my twenties. I never in a million years thought I would be able to run more than one or two miles, but your body is capable of incredible things and putting in the work will always pay off.
