Where I’ve been + last week’s workouts

Hey there. How did your weekend go? Yep, only Tuesday here. I’m sorry to be MIA, but my mother-in-law arrived on Saturday and we have been busy catching up. I also wanted to be able to just focus on spending time together rather than feel like I had to document everything or take pics. So, here’s a quick recap of what we did so far with minimal photos…

Saturday was all about catching up. I worked out in the morning, Matt left for work, and the girls and I went to Whole Foods for breakfast where they ate all the bacon.

My MIL arrived soon after that and we walked around and caught up while the girls played outside. It was a gorgeous day!

Matt returned home later and we visited some more and then ordered dinner from Lucha Tigre. It was super tasty, but we agreed that it wasn’t as good as the last few times. Bummer.

Sunday was pajama time and coffee while being a bit lazy on a cold morning. After taking the girls for a bundled up bike ride, my MIL and I went out to do some Christmas shopping. I got a few things checked off my list for the girls…Hooray! After that we headed home and ate pizza and wings.

It’s really good to have my MIL here and to have some extra hands with the girls. I have overhead them saying, “Grammie, I love you” and it just melts my heart. I’m glad they are getting so much quality time with her. Living away from our parents is HARD! Anyway, I’ll share more of our happenings at the end of the week.

Last week’s workouts

Guys, I am so glad you like to read my workout recaps! Sharing my workouts definitely keeps me accountable. Knowing that I’m going be posting everything I do motivates me to keep it up and follow through with my plans. And it’s a nice way to see all the progress I’ve made. Are there other details you would like me to share? Honestly, I could write all dayyyyyy.

Okay, let’s review…

5 rounds of the following giant (triple) set:

  • barbell wide grip upright row (10-12 reps)
  • narrow grip upright row (AMAP)
  • dumbbell lateral raise (10-12 reps)
  • rest 1 minute and repeat

4 rounds of the following super set:

  • single deadlift usig a 20 lb. kettlebell (20 per side) – I used 25 lbs. on the last two rounds
  • band pull-aparts (20-25 reps)

3 rounds/superset:

  • calf raises (20 total)
  • weighted sit ups (30 total)
  • lateral walks (30 per side) = noodle legs

Simple upper body superset workout – I created this some time ago, but I always come back to it. I love how simple the movements are and that everything is 10 reps. It doesn’t require too much thinking. 🙂

A Fit Mess

4.5 mile run outside (average pace 8:12)

This was a great run! It was slightly cool and so pleasant. I stopped a few times to walk and take a phone call, but I felt great the whole time. I wish I could have run longer, but I had to get back to the house.

Thursday Orangetheoryfitness

Someone told me this was going to be a good workout and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved it. It reminded me a little bit of Hell Week, but I muscled through. I think at one point I was running at a 15% incline and thought I might die or fall off (not sure which one would have been worse).

Strength block 1:

  • 5 full burpees low row DB curl and OH press
  • 10 deadlifts
  • 5 ultimate abs
  • 10 plank leg lifts

Strength block 2:

  • 5 lateral raises to front raises
  • forward lunges with TRX
  • 10 double crunches
  • 300 meter row (best time was 64 seconds)

Treadmill block 1:

  • run 0.3 miles at a push pace (challenging/max effort 80%) -> 1 min base pace
  • add 1% to incline after each round until time is called

Treadmill block 2:

  • run 0.2 miles at a push pace -> 45 sec base pace
  • add 2% to incline each round until time is called

Treadmill block 3:

  • run 0.1 miles at an all out pace (AFAP) -> walking recovery for 30 seconds
  • add 3% to incline each round until time is called

Friday – REST

Saturday – Orangetheory class

I forgot to note what we did in class, but it was a good one. Lots of running and incline work. Reverse lunges to step ups and some crazy ab work. My legs are still soreeeeeee.

Sunday – Christmas shopping with my MIL. Yes, considered cardio.

So, how was your weekend? What did your workouts look like? Shopping included.
