Hey, hey! Hope you all had a great weekend. We had family in town visiting which was nice. Unfortunately, both girls were sick and they were pretty crabby and clingy most of the time. So we chilled inside most of the time since the girls weren’t in much mood to be out and about. But on Saturday night my wonderful mother-in-law and father-in-law stayed with the girls so Matt and I could go out to celebrate our anniversary. Hooray!
So a few quick highlights from the weekend:
The girls had their Little Gym class on Friday. This was the first day I noticed they weren’t their usual selves.
We also visited the brand new house my sister-in-law built. She designed and constructed this place from the ground up and it’s now under contract! It’s so beautiful!
Saturday I went to Orangetheory and then took the girls to the pool. Ashlyn swam for a bit and then she wanted to go home (usually I have to bribe them out of the pool). She was a bit out of it and slept for a long time when we got back. Poor baby.
Saturday evening Matt and I had out date night! Recap below.
Sunday we all went out for a Father’s Day brunch at Whole Foods. It was a great idea by my MIL – we all got what we wanted and were able to spread out at a big booth. Afterwards we went to the playground and left shortly after arriving because Madison got sick. We went home and the girls slept for 3 hours. It was obvious they were both fighting something. After a long nap they were both feeling and acting much better! Our family left later that afternoon to head back to New York.
Date night recap
Saturday we had a night out to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to stay local and hit up downtown Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. The weather was perfect. It was sunny, but very breezy. I wore the dress I recently found on Nordstrom’s half yearly sale (It was only $20!). And my new Bay to Baubles necklace.
We started with drinks at Glasshalffull. I would recommend this wine bar for drinks. It’s our new favorite.
Cheers to 8 years!
Afterwards we walked to Tandem for dinner. This is a new restaurant that just opened a couple of months ago. It was such a pretty night we asked to sit outside.
More drinks. This was my first time having rosé (the waiter recommended Gobelsburg). It was really good.
We each decided to choose one appetizer to share. I went with the roasted parsnips which were prepared with saffron, citrus, and topped with pumpkin seeds.
Matt ordered the bone marrow which looked slightly terrifying. We laughed at what total opposites these dishes were from each other.
The appetizers were disappointing. There wasn’t much food and the flavors weren’t quite right.
But the main dishes totally made up for it. Matt ordered the beef short ribs. They came with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. It was served in a huge pot!
I went with the catch of the day: Ahi tuna. It was placed over black rice and topped with a citrus salad, mint, and pistachios. It was really good!
Overall, we thought Tandem was pretty good. The apps and drinks were a bit small given the price, but the main dishes were tasty. I would probably go back another time after they’ve been open a bit longer.
Afterwards we walked to Sugarland for a sweet treat. They had a couple of gluten-free cupcakes, but I ended up going with strawberry gelato.
I was pleasantly surprised that all of their fruit flavors (other than coconut) are dairy-free!
Yum! The portion size was perfect!
We walked around a bit since the weather was so nice. I absolutely love where we live.
We made it home before 9 pm. It was crazy!
How was your weekend? Anything fun happen?
