Weekend recap: travel workouts, toddler clothes shopping & more

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was pretty chilly here, but sunny. Where did spring go?

Let’s get into the weekend recap…

Friday I wrapped up my business trip to St. Louis. Despite having a very celebratory Thursday night with my colleagues, I still managed to get my butt out of bed and to the hotel gym in the morning.

I did a speedy 3 mile run on the treadmill followed by 15 minutes of major stretching. Sitting in a seminar for two days straight does not agree with my body. The Hyatt’s gym was actually pretty nice although very busy and with a limited number of free weights and machines.

Afterwards I hit up the hotel’s Starbucks (!) and grab a big girl coffee and some water. I went with a blonde roast (my favorite) and coconut milk. I refueled with a Larabar and Justin’s almond butter while doing some work.

St. Louis travel

After attending the morning sessions, it was time to pack up and head to the airport. Since I was in programming for the entire 2.5 days, I didn’t really get to see much of the city.

I arrived at the airport hungry and ended up having a BBQ chicken salad from California Pizza Kitchen.

It was disappointing to say the least, but I made up for it with some OCHO coconut bites covered in dark chocolate – so good!

I made it back home that evening and was so happy to see my family again.

Saturday am I woke up feeling pretty exhausted, but since I already signed up for my usual class I decided I’d better go. It was a killer ESP day (endurance, strength, and power focus). After class I came home and got ready for the day. I promised the girls a Green Monster smoothie from Whole Foods, but when we got there we were told the blender was broken! So, instead I split a Naked mango juice between the girls. We also had some scrambled eggs. I went with an iced coffee and almond milk.

After our snack, we walked around a bit outside, hit up a few stores and then headed to Kidzu, a local kids museum. Yes, attempting it again on a weekend. Yes, it was busy as ever.

Having been away for the whole week, I did a TON of laundry and picked up the house. Thankfully, Matt did the majority of the cleaning. The night ended with a glass of wine on the deck while making a grocery list and then some Netflix.

Sunday, funday. The girls helped Matt put away groceries. Such good helpers!

Other activities included: a walk to the playground, swings and slides, bubbles and bowling! I grabbed this bowling game at a consignment store for a few dollars and the girls are really enjoying it. This picture kills me. Ashlyn looks like me when I bowl.

When the girls napped, I ran out to do a few errands, including buying some spring dresses for M and A. Is there anything better than shopping for little girls? No, no there isn’t.

And I got my shop on a la Stitch Fix! I will be sharing a review later this week.

Monday (at the beach)

Do anywhere workout – body weight exercises

3 rounds:

  • squat with side leg raise (20 reps each side)
  • down dog abs (10 reps each side)
  • elbow plank with twist (10 reps each side)

3 rounds:

  • beach babe push ups (5 reps each side)
  • twisted mountain climbers (20 reps each side)
  • Bulgarian split squat (15 reps each side)

3 rounds:

  • superwoman push up (10 reps)
  • butterfly crunch (15 reps)
  • marching bridge (20 reps each side)

Tuesday (at the beach)

  • burpees (15)
  • jumping rope (2 min)
  • push ups (15)
  • jump squats (15)
  • mountain climbers (30 sec)
  • plank up/downs (30 sec)
  • jumping rope (2 min)
  • frog hops – forward and back (15)

Wednesday (travel to St. Louis)

yoga + 10 min ab work

Thursday (hotel gym)

strength – super sets *15 reps of each

3 rounds:

  • front squat to push press
  • tricep kickbacks

3 rounds:

  • push ups
  • DB reverse lunge

3 rounds:

  • shoulder press
  • DB row

3 rounds:

  • tricep pushu ps on a medicine ball
  • DB side lunge

3 rounds:

  • squat thrusters holding 12 lb. ball
  • bicep curls

Friday (hotel gym)

  1. Are you based in the US? This is a typical post that I often see that leaves me SO jealous. It seems everywhere but the UK has such a healthy on-the-go vibe to it. Great post! This weekend was my 21st birthday so a lot of alcohol, good food and crying with my mum and grandmother. Perfect! x

    1. Yes, I live in Chapel Hill, NC. There’s definitely a lot of healthy options here. Many of the items I buy are from Target, Trader Joes or Whole Foods. I also get a lot of things from Amazon. Happy birthday to you! You make me feel super old ;). Haha
