Mother’s Day gift ideas + the woman I’m grateful for

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about all the special women who have made a difference in my life from family to friends to colleagues. Today I wanted to share a little bit about a significant someone I am blessed to have in my life and offer some creative gift ideas for the person you’d like to honor this Mother’s Day – whether it’s a mother, grandmother, sister, or friend.

I feel extremely fortunate for my sister Amy. In fact, I couldn’t imagine my life without her. This Mother’s Day I would like to acknowledge my sister for all she does for our family and for others.

My mother passed away at a young age (40) and I was only 13. Even though my sister was barely two years older than me, she stepped in and held our family together. She has been very much a role model me, a supportive sister, and best friend. I rely on her for guidance on everything from parenting to relationships to finances (oh, how I wish I could budget like she can!). She is thoughtful, kind, and accepting of everyone.

I admire Amy for many things, but most of all I admire her for her commitment to family. She gives so much of herself to everyone and juggles million things in order to meet deadlines at work, take her children to various activities, and cook meals for her family. She inspires me everyday to be more considerate and patient. Love you, Ames! P.S. Love you too, brother!

Unique Mother’s Day gifts

This Mother’s Day, if you want to think outside the box of the usual gifts, here are a few creative ways to let the special woman in your life know you care. Please note the following is not a sponsored post, but I am an affiliate of Stitch Fix and would receive a commission if you use my referral link below.

1. Stitch Fix gift card: Give the gift of style! Customize your card and let the stylists handle the rest. Gift cards can be mailed, emailed, or printed from home. Cards can be purchased for as little as $20. Plus, there is no commitment to continue the service. Fun idea, right? If you are interested buying a gift card, please use my affiliate link (<–thank you! thank you!).

2. Spring portrait session: Book a photo session for you and your loved ones to capture life’s moments. We just did a mini photo session with Amelya Jayne Photography and it was so enjoyable and totally convenient! The session takes just 30 minutes (ideal for kids!) and can be in any location you choose (within the Durham-Raleigh-Chapel Hill area). There are several add-on items to choose from, including a beautiful box of prints or a pretty accordion book of photos. For more information about booking a mini session, please visit the Amelya Jayne website.

3. Massage package: Nothing like a little pampering to please your loved one. There are many spas to choose from, depending on your location. I’ve really enjoyed my experiences at Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa. The facility is new, the services are great, and the prices are very reasonable. Plus they are open 7 days/week! Perfect!
