Hello YOU. How was your weekend? Anyone else feel like this?
Friday arrived with high hopes. Matt and I planned to go out for a sushi date night, but Ashlyn came down with a fever that afternoon. It started quickly and just got worse.
She was pretty miserable and a bit clingy at the end of the day so we decided to stay in that night. My poor baby was so uncomfortable. She slept with us for most of the night and I put her back in her crib around 4:00 am so I could grab one solid hour of sleep.
I went to an Orange class on Saturday am (sprint intervals at 7 am after a broken night’s rest are no joke) and then came home to shower and get ready for our company to arrive. My family was coming in to visit for the weekend!
Ashlyn wasn’t much better by the morning, but she immediately perked up when her cousins arrived. After visiting for a few hours over coffee, we all went shopping to pick up some groceries at Aldi’s.
It was my very first time visiting the store despite it being just a few miles away from our house. Overall, I was surprised at the variety of items they carried – organic fruits and veggies, gluten free goods, and nuts – and at decent prices.
I’m not sure if I would do my regular grocery shopping there since I rely so much on Trader Joe’s, but I could see myself going there now and then.
Later that evening we had dinner at our house (menu: wings, baked sweet potato fries, avocado salad) and I baked some double-chocolate cookies.
My sister and I stayed up and watched the movie Sisters. Amy Poehler and Tina Fay are hysterical. I definitely recommend watching it!
Saturday night was a rough one because Ashlyn was up a few times with congestion. I slept in the next morning and woke up around 6:30 am. We hung around the house for a bit and then took a walk. It was so darn cold and rainy. I was disappointed we didn’t have some better weather for my family considering it’s snowing back in Buffalo right now.
By the end of the day on Sunday, Madison came down with a fever. It’s inevitable that when one child gets sick the other will, too. She got a lot of cuddle time with her cousins.
Despite having two sick kiddos, it was a great time visiting with my family. I’m so glad they came down for a visit.
